It took the Frosts two years to complete the backyard of their dreams. Nestled on a hilltop in Glendale, California, the homeowners created a beautiful space indicative of Cali’s outdoor lifestyle. They converted their pool deck area, adding new decking and a maintenance-free structure along the outer edge of the backyard. Measuring a total of 52’x12′, four manual canopies were installed, shading the new space from the sun’s harmful rays.

2. Howard Beach House, Bahamas

Howard Beach House in the Bahamas underwent a major renovation in 2016 to convert the former Spanish Wells Beach Resort into the modern residence it is today. Beachside, two decks were added to accommodate a lounge and dining area. The owners erected a pergola and a 14×16 retractable canopy to cover the dining section, allowing them and guests to enjoy the shade during the day and retract to view the stars in the evening.

Retractable Roofs

3. Retractable Roof, Etobicoke

Homeowners in Toronto built a large, striking white pergola on their existing deck. The aim was to have a nice dining spot next to the outdoor kitchen. Once the pergola was completed, they reached out to ShadeFX for a 22’x20′ retractable roof in a stunning Serge Ferrari Red fabric. The waterproof and fire-retardant fabric complements the bold décor found throughout the yard. With the roof mounted on top of the pergola, the two outdoor heaters installed below will keep the diners covered and warm during the cooler months.

4. Retractable Roof, Kleinburg

A pool house in Kleinburg, Ontario features a bar and an open front for lounging between dips. The missing piece of the puzzle to complete the homeowners’ backyard oasis was a 16’x14′ retractable roof from ShadeFX. The team installed the retractable roof’s rear panel to prevent rainwater from leaking onto the bar below. With a single tap, the motorized roof can be retracted and extended from the homeowner’s smartphone. This gives them an extra layer of comfort and control, even when they are away from home.

5. Shade Structure, Thornhill

After seeing the ShadeFX outdoor shade structure at Bayview Country Club, homeowners in Thornhill, Ontario, knew it would be the perfect weather solution for their new BBQ and patio area. ShadeFX customized an 18’x12′ shade structure in Umbra Grey to match the existing solarium. The water-resistant Sunbrella Heather Beige canopy extends and retracts using a ‘double manual’ operation. This allows the canopy to stack on either end of the structure, providing maximum flexibility when opening or closing the system.

6. Shade Structure, Vineland

An outdoor living area in Vineland, Ontario wasn’t complete until a versatile shade structure was added for comfort and protection from the elements. The homeowners have a large, southward-facing concrete patio that was unusable at times during the day, especially in rainy season. They ordered a 20’x12′ custom shade structure to cover a portion of the patio, protecting them and their furniture from sun and rain. Using a detachable handle, the manual shade glides effortlessly along C-channel stabilizers when retracted or extended.

7. Freestanding Retractable Canopy, Milton

Homeowners in Milton, Ontario did not have to search far and wide to find the perfect poolside shade solution for their modern backyard. ShadeFX’s Freestanding Retractable Canopy answered the call for a functional shade and wind-resistant coverage when lounging by their pool.
