Calling all meat lovers to a restaurant that dishes up prime cuts of the finest steaks sourced from around the world. Carna by Dario Cecchini, is a new steakhouse debuted at the SLS Baha Mar resort in Nassau, The Bahamas.

Carna is borne from the skill and passion of eighth-generation master butcher, Dario Cecchini. As the latest addition to the resort, the steakhouse also marks the opening of the butcher’s first dining concept outside his home country of Italy. The restaurant features a live butcher’s station and boasts of dry aging in house. With a vast selection of the best cuts of meat, seafood, and delicacies available, it’s a prime spot for local and visiting foodies.

Offering indoor/outdoor seating, Carna has a mid-modern look with an earthy color scheme, drawing from Italian architecture. Guests arrive at an intimate atmosphere, before making their way through elegantly detailed butcher and wine showcases. The area then opens up to a grand dining room with a glowing main bar.

This decadent dining experience extends outdoors to the restaurant’s impressive circular patio and covered pergola. The entire patio surrounds a lush garden area at its core, further enhancing the cozy setting.

To complete this custom patio, local company S.M.G. Construction Millwork was enlisted for the job. The construction company is quickly becoming recognized as the high-end millwork company of the Bahamas, supplying indoor and outdoor custom pieces island wide.

S.M.G. Millwork constructed a two-tiered circular pergola combining metal and wood materials. In order to cover this unique shape and protect guests from occasional rainfall, the company needed a custom, robust solution.

ShadeFX specified a total of 10 tapered motorized canopies to cover the entire circular structure. Fitted to within 1/8”, the custom shades seamlessly integrated into the top structure giving a professional finish. To ensure a smooth glide of the canopies when extending and retracting, cable stabilizers were installed. In addition, custom gutters were fixed to each section to manage rain run-off.

Though temperatures in the Bahamas is great year-round, they do experience a rainy season during the latter half of the year. Whether wet or dry season, it is no longer a concern for the restaurant and its patio diners. With the addition of the versatile retractable shades, the outdoor patio will remain the best seats in the house for its clear open skies when desired, or rain protection when needed.
