On the shores of Pinney’s Beach, in the small island of Nevis, lies an escape for those who want to get away – Four Seasons Resort Nevis. Its sprawling grounds boast 50 villas, picture-perfect palm tree groves, inviting infinity pools, a relaxing spa, a golf course, and four restaurants and bars.
The luxury resort completed its multi-stage enhancement project featuring an upgrade to its guest rooms and suites and main pool out to the property’s beachfront.
Headed by contractors Dck International Skn Ltd, the renovation showcases the debut of a new restaurant concept, On the Dune. With over 7,000 sq. ft. and seating for more than 130 diners, On the Dune replaced the old Four Seasons Nevis’ Cabana restaurant.
The new upscale and relaxing beachside restaurant has a casual fare throughout the day and transforms every evening into an open-air beachfront dining space with a shaded, covered seating area.
The Caribbean-style structure utilizes a heavy timber construction and functions as the resort’s beachfront dining option, offering views of the Caribbean Sea. To allow for nighttime stargazing opportunities that may be hindered by sporadic rainfall, ShadeFX retractable solutions were incorporated.
Working with Dck International, ShadeFX specified 15 motorized retractable canopies in various sizes for the project. Ten canopies are wrapped around the outside of the restaurant, covering the lower eating area. The other 5 canopies were used over the walkway connecting the main dining with the separate bar area. Keeping within the resort’s breezy Caribbean look and feel, the canopies were made in the fire retardant and waterproof Serge Ferrari White fabric.
During the day, the canopies will provide guests with the respite they need from the tropical rays with direct views to the shores. As the night approaches, the restaurant’s open-air experience is enhanced with the option of retracting the canopies for a spectacular view of a different kind – the starry night sky.
