One of the most dramatic examples of ‘eating with your eyes first’, is The Keg Steakhouse + Bar at Cadillac Fairview’s Sherway Gardens in Etobicoke, Ontario. Designed by the innovative Giannone Petricone Associates Inc. and brought to life by Gaydon Contractors, the project is part of a multi-year $550 million makeover. With so many moving parts, it was important that The Moore Group was enlisted to ensure that expectations for the project went above and beyond. Literally.
Unlike most other restaurant designs, The Keg at Sherway Gardens boasts a rooftop patio with a 600 square foot opening that could be covered or open based upon weather and comfort level of guests.
Despite our established repertoire with The Keg, Giannone, and Gaydon Contractors on three other successful projects, we were still ecstatic to have another opportunity to contribute our own flair to this innovative and contemporary design.
To cover the entire 600 sq. ft area, we installed two motorized canopies. Both canopies are tilted to drain rainwater beyond the patio, ensuring all seats in the space remain dry. Painted black, the canopy mechanisms, hardware and components integrate flawlessly into the existing building. Keeping the staff and guests in mind, we also installed a wall switch so that the canopies can be opened and closed with ease when necessary.
The Keg Steakhouse + Bar at Sherway Gardens is a testament to Canadian hospitality excellence. The tradition of the grill and innovative ambience stands true in their latest project.
For ShadeFX, it will always be a humbling experience to add our own flavor to The Keg experience.
